Former Carlton captain Andrew McKay has been appointed as the new chairman of the AFL match review panel, replacing outgoing chairman Peter Schwab.

McKay will join St Kilda legend Nathan Burke, 300-game umpire Peter Carey and former Sydney Swans player Wayne Henwood, who has joined the panel as an ex-player jury representative.

AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said McKay, who played 244 games for the Blues, was the ideal candidate to step into the role.
